This is my excuse for everything.
These stock photos of Native Americans don’t look very Native American. Can we try Philippinos [sic]?— (via clientsfromhell)

This is way better than “Shit My Dad Says”.
The 10th Anniversary SURA Student Photography Exhibition opens at the Arab American National Museum this month!
Kids from all around the southwest Detroit area are given a digital camera and instructed by students from CCS on basic photography principles. They’re taken on field trips through southwest and it’s surrounding areas to snap their shots and hone their skills.
This program is fantastic, it introduces kids to an artistic medium which many of them continue on throughout their lives, and opens up discussion on issues of identity and community. In 2008, it won the Coming Up Taller Award from the President’s Council on the Arts and the Humanities.
Definitely a worth program to support, and some of these kids work is really incredible. The exhibition opens September 18 in the AANM lower level gallery, and it’s free with Museum admission, so come check it out!
